Independence Day & Charter Day Celebration

Every June 15th, the city celebrates the cityhood of Cagayan de Oro and at the same time on June 12th, Philippine Independence Day. Government, military parades and exhibits mark both events. It was on June 15, 1950 that Cagayan de Misamis became a city and its name changed to Cagayan de Oro.
